The (Vegan) Breakfast Club
Better for your body. Better for animals. Better for the world.
No, I'm not kidding.
You're probably thinking, "how will I ever be able to survive without meat? Without bacon, or cheeseburgers? Or bacon cheeseburgers?"
Bye bye piggies. Bye bye cows.
R. I. P.
I'm just sayin'.
Better for you: Maintaining a vegan/vegetarian diet can prevent cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. It can also lower blood pressure, and decrease asthma (yay, me!). Not to mention, vegans/vegetarians tend to live longer. Again, I'm just sayin'. Meat substitutes exist, people! You can go to practically any burger place and get a veggie patty with all the same toppings on your burger. And no, it doesn't taste like cardboard. There's also tofu, beans, or any vegetable ever. Dairy substitutes are a thing, too. Soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk. You can get dairy-free cheese and ice cream as well.
Better for the animals: Because they actually get to live and freely prance around in fields of grass and such. Duh.
Better for the environment: In a documentary called Cowspiracy, filmmaker Kip Anderson uncovers what the world's leading environmental organizations are scared to talk about: animal agriculture and how it's affecting us and our world. Real bad. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption, pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry - and the list goes on. Just watch it, it's available on Netflix. Also, it's produced by Leonardo DiCaprio (who finally got an Oscar, you go Leo). Here's a little snippet for you:
But listen, I'm not trying to convert you to "veganism" or anything. Although, I'll leave you with a few things you can do:
1. Start small. Participate in Meatless Monday's! It's one day out of the week. You can do it. I believe in you.
2. Next time you make yourself a meal or even go out to eat, try substituting the meat in your meal. Like I said, tofu, beans, or any vegetable ever. Don't knock it till you try it.
3. You'll have to do a little research for this one, but if you wear makeup or any sort of cosmetics in general, search which brands are cruelty-free and gravitate more towards those brands.
4. Lastly, look at this photo of a happy little piglet. Sorry, I had to.
